Volunteering (University of Leicester Women in Tech Hackathon)
Calling all those who would like to support students / early careers! This event is organised by the central Careers and Employability Service in collaboration with student societies.
Aim
- To provide a significant experience for participating students that they can use to advertise their skills when applying for internships, placements or graduate jobs
- To introduce students into employer focussed projects based around real-world challenges
- To bring our students closer to our key partner organisations
Agenda The event will take place on Saturday 8th March 2025 on International Women's Day. This event will consist of 50 students in 10 teams of 5. They will each be designing their own product with the support of a mentor. It will be open to all female and nonbinary students; all year groups and all disciplines. Your Role As an Access mentor - you will be assigned a team(s) to mentor through the challenge. This will be to provide them guidance on their product and is also an opportunity to engage with these students about your company. You may be assigned more than one team.
**NOTE ** Please note this takes place on a Saturday. You will need to gain your line managers agreement to take your charity day off in lieu (if this is what you wish to do - it is not mandatory to do so) You will need to provide your own travel and expenses, lunch is not included.
